Dr Sophie Plasto

Emergency Vet

After growing up travelling all through QLD and NSW, Sophie completed her Bachelor of Veterinary Science in 2017 at James Cook University in Far North QLD. After graduation Sophie spent several years in small animal general practice in beautiful Far North Queensland, where she developed a love for all the ‘exciting’ aspects of veterinary medicine – namely, being able to manage and save critical patients with life threatening illnesses. When the opportunity came to relocate to Canberra and work in full time emergency practice doing what she loves, Sophie jumped at the chance and joined the CVES team.

¬†Sophie’s special interests lie in critical care, and managing life threatening illness and disease, finding the most impact in saving people’s furry loved ones within a short space of time with critical illnesses. She especially enjoys endocrinology, internal medicine and anaesthesia- but does love a good soft tissue surgery as well. Outside of work Sophie enjoys spending time with her dog, ‘Roo’, going on hikes and visiting the surrounding spectacular region around ACT. Sophie is currently completing further studies in the area of emergency and critical care.
