Wildlife and Strays

Wildlife and Strays

If you find an animal, whether it is a lost family pet or wildlife, please don’t hesitate to contact us and bring the animal in. If the animal is in distress, sick or injured, the veterinarians at Canberra Veterinary Emergency Service will provide compassionate care.

For domestic pets we will attempt to reunite them with their worried owners, if we cannot reunite pets with their humans we will refer them to the RSPCA or DAS where they will have a better chance of being found.

For wildlife, we will endeavor to treat any problems they have and get them to the local wildlife groups for rehabilitation and release.

Unfortunately, some wildlife and strays present with severe injuries, in this instance our veterinarian will decide if the animal can be stabilized and made comfortable, unfortunately some of these animals will be humanely euthanized to prevent unnecessary suffering.

Canberra Veterinary Emergency Service will be staying open during the COVID-19 outbreak.

To stay open however, we have needed to put some measures in place to keep our staff well so we can be here to tend to your pet.

Please stay in your vehicle upon arrival at our clinic and call us at 6225 7257 for more information. We will tend to your pet as quickly as possible.

Thank you for your understanding.
